Liatris spicata, also known as Blazing Star, is native to North America and flourishes in USDA zones 3-9, offering significant ecological benefits by attracting pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, and providing habitat for beneficial insects. Its tall, striking flower spikes make it a lovely addition to gardens, and its drought tolerance supports sustainable landscaping. The plant features narrow, grass-like green foliage with vibrant purple to pink flower spikes that bloom from top to bottom.

For best results, cold stratify seeds for 30-60 days before sowing; seeds will germinate in 2-4 weeks with warmth and moisture. Liatris spicata grows in clumps and prefers full sun and well-draining soil, reaching heights of 2-4 feet and making a bold, vertical statement in garden beds.
