Description: Bull Thistle (Cirsium vulgare) is a biennial plant native to Europe and Asia, now naturalized across North America, thriving in USDA hardiness zones 3-8. Known for its spiny leaves and bold purple flower heads, this plant supports local ecosystems by providing nectar for pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, and seeds for birds. While not commonly used as a houseplant, its presence in wildflower gardens or naturalized areas contributes to biodiversity. The plant has historical uses in herbal remedies, but caution is advised as it can be invasive.

Color: Bull Thistle features gray-green, spiny foliage and vibrant purple-pink flower heads.

Seed Stratification and Sowing: Seeds benefit from 1-2 weeks of cold stratification for better germination. Sow seeds on the soil surface or just lightly covered, ensuring exposure to light for germination within 2-4 weeks.

Growing Habits and Requirements: Bull Thistle can grow up to 3-5 feet tall and thrives in well-drained soil under full sun. It is drought-tolerant and prefers open, undisturbed areas for optimal growth.
