Sunchoke Bulbs/Tubers - Helianthus Tuberosus

Sunchokes, also known as Jerusalem Artichokes are a member of the Sunflower family and genus, named Helianthus Tuberosus and are native to central North America.

These are an aggressive spreading species that is well suited for zones 3 to 8. This particular lineage is grown as an heirloom here in Kentucky with heights exceeding 12 feet. I suggest you too prune these once they reach 3-4 feet by simply cutting the plants. This will encourage outward growth and discourage the excessive vertical growth habit.

At the end of Summer and through Winter you will be rewarded with tons of small 1-3” yellow flowers adorned on the plants! They will continue to bloom up until the first freeze usually.

Commonly grown for their edible tubers that are used similarly to potatoes. They have a crunchier nuttier taste similar to water chestnut or jicama.

These are sold per pound or in smaller 8oz packs if you just need a smaller amount.
